| A half-day study event commemorating the 1826 Loom Riots with additional commemorative activities ongoing throughout the afternoon. Join us for speaker sessions in the Lancaster Suite, Lancaster Castle devoted to re-examining the civil unrest of Lancashire Weavers in the North West that led to the Loom Riots and Chatterton massacre. Speakers include Dr David Scott (Weavers Uprising Bicentennial Committee/Open University), Dr Colin Penny (historian and museum manager Lancaster Castle) and Joseph Cousins (the National Archives). Please note this event will be for in-person attendance only and will not be recorded. During the lunch break and afternoon, participants will be free to explore a special exhibition on view in the Castle as well as experience commemorative musical performances taking place in town and on various stages.
