£15.00 / unit

This meticulously researched book explores the role of the Friends of the Lake District in protecting the Lake District in the 50 years since its designation as a national park in 1951.

Published to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Friends of the Lake District, the study acts as a companion volume to the RHC’s 2009 book Friends of The Lake District: the Early Years by John Cousins. The new book brings the history of the Friends forward into the twenty-first century. In it, Jeremy Rowan Robinson draws upon a wealth of primary source materials to chronicle the Friends’ involvement in some of the biggest development proposals affecting the landscape of the Lake District and offers a unique insight into the district’s history.

The book includes a foreword by Dr Alan Crosby and is available to purchase as a standalone volume or as a combined purchase with Cousins' earlier work. Please select the appropriate option from the list below.
